Restore a Backup

For more information, see Backup and Restore.

Before you begin:

  • Generate a backup file, as described in Configure Backups.
  • Perform a fresh installation of Tenable.io on-prem on the server where you generated the backup file, as described in Install On-prem.

To restore a backup:

  1. On the server where you generated the backup file, log in to the on-prem configuration interface.
  2. Click Remote Storage.

    The Remote Storage page appears.

  3. Configure the remote host to match the configuration before you generated the backup, as described in Configure Backups.

  4. Click Terminal.

    The Terminal page appears.

  5. Run the following command to start the restore:

    sudo /usr/libexec/tenablecore/cold_restore.sh

    The restore begins. The Tenable.io interface is unavailable during the restore.

    Note: Do not leave the Terminal page during the restore.

    The restore completes and on-prem displays the status: Cold restore finished, allow up to 30 minutes for operations to fully recover. The Tenable.io interface remains unavailable for 30 minutes.
