Add an Agent to an Agent Group

Required User Role: Scan Manager or Administrator

Use this procedure to add an agent to an agent group in Tenable.io.

To add a single agent to agent groups in the new interface:

1. In the upper-left corner, click the button.

   The left navigation plane appears.

2. In the left navigation plane, click Settings.

   The Settings page appears.

3. Click the Sensors widget.

   The Sensors page appears. By default, Agents is selected in the left navigation menu and the Linked Agents tab is active.

4. (Optional) Search for a specific agent or filter the agents in the table. For filter descriptions, see Agent Filters.

5. In the row for the agent that you want to add to a group, click the button.

   The Add to Groups plane appears.

6. In the search box, search by name for each agent group you want to add, then click the group to select.

   If there are no existing agent groups, create one:

   1. In the note box, click add a new group.

      The add group plane appears.

   2. In the text box, type the name of the new group.
   3. In the Users & Groups section, set the user permissions for the new group.
   4. Click Save.

      The Add to Groups plane reappears. The new group appears in the selection list.

7. Click Save to save your changes.

   Tenable.io saves the changes.

To add multiple agents to agent groups in the new interface:

1. In the upper-left corner, click the button.

   The left navigation plane appears.

2. In the left navigation plane, click Settings.

   The Settings page appears.

3. Click the Sensors widget.

   The Sensors page appears. By default, Agents is selected in the left navigation menu and the Linked Agents tab is active.

4. In the list of agents, select the check boxes next to the agents you want to add to agent groups.

   The agent action buttons appear.

5. Click the button.

   The Add to Groups plane appears.

6. In the search box, search by name for each agent group you want to add, then click the group to select.

   If there are no existing agent groups, create one:

   1. In the note box, click add a new group.

      The add group plane appears.

   2. In the text box, type the name of the new group.
   3. In the Users & Groups section, set the user permissions for the new group.
   4. Click Save.

      The Add to Groups plane reappears. The new group appears in the selection list.

7. Click Save to save your changes.

   Tenable.io saves the changes.
