Add your own business context to assets by tagging them with descriptive metadata in Tenable.io.
You can manually apply static asset tags to create a fixed group of assets, then use applied tags to filter the asset workbench. Tags display with the asset for easy identification.
A tag is composed of a Category:Value pair, which enables identification and classification of your assets. For example, if you want group your assets by location, create a Location category with the value Headquarters, then apply Location:Headquarters to the appropriate assets.
Tags are uniquely named and are applied across your organization. You can also provide descriptions of tags and tag categories to better explain their usage.
Users in any role can manage tags.
To access the Tags page, in the top navigation bar, click Settings, and then, in the left navigation bar, click Tags. The Tags page appears, which displays a table that contains all the tags for your organization. This documentation refers to that table as the tags table.
Via the Tags page, you can perform the following tasks:
Note: For instructions on applying or removing tags in the Assets dashboard, see the Manage Asset Tags documentation.
