Backup and Restore Tenable Enclave Security

Note: These steps apply only to Tenable Enclave Security versions 1.6 and earlier. For later versions, see External PostgreSQL with Tenable Security Center in the Tenable Security Center user guide

To backup and restore Tenable Enclave Security, you must save and restore the following components:

  • Disk (Persistent Volume Claim, or PVC)

    • Tenable Security Center: The disk affects all Tenable Security Center functionality and access to Container Security in Tenable Enclave Security.

    • Container Security: The disk is required for scan optimization and live scans (version 1.5.1 and earlier).

  • PostgreSQL

    • Tenable Security Center: PostgreSQL affects global search and vulnerability intelligence (Tenable Security Center 6.6.3 and earlier).

    • Container Security: PostgreSQL affects all Container Security functionality.

Considerations

  • You must scale down the services while performing the backup and restore to prevent data drift.

  • You must re-download Container Security Agents from the Container Security UI after the restored instance is running. This ensures the Container Security Agent knows the location of the running Tenable Enclave Security instance.

  • You must re-install Container Security Deployment Assessment Agents using the updated configurations downloaded from the Container Security UI after the restored instance is running. This ensures the Deployment Assessment Agent knows the location of the running Tenable Enclave Security instance.

  • Tenable Enclave Security must be installed in a namespace with the same name as the previous instance to function effectively, as the database table name and disk paths use the namespace name.

  • Tenable Enclave Security must point to the same database as the backed-up instance to render previously scanned data. If the database instance is different, you must restore the data from the previous database instance to maintain the same database name, tables, users, and permissions.

  • Customers must perform the PostgreSQL backup and restore directly. For general guidance and recommendations, see External PostgreSQL with Tenable Security Center in the Tenable Security Center user guide.
