Configure VDS
- Select the VDS to configure for port mirroring from the list.
- Navigate to the Manage tab and, in the Settings section, select Port Mirroring.
- Click New to begin creating a new port mirror configuration. A wizard appears.
- Select a session type, such as Distributed Port Mirroring.
- In the Edit Properties section, in the Name field, type a name for the port mirror set.
- Ensure the Status setting is Enabled.
- Because the port is only used to monitor traffic, set the Normal I/O on destination ports field to Disallowed.
- Adjust the Mirrored packet length setting as needed for the environment.
- Optionally, enter a Description to provide more information about the use of this mirrored port.
- Click Next.
- In the Select Sources section, select the port(s) to be mirrored for this set.
- Click OK.
- To determine which direction of traffic to monitor with this mirror, select Ingress, Egress, or Ingress/Egress. Monitoring both directions yields the maximum amount of information.
- Click Next.
- In the Select Destinations section, select the destination ports to receive the mirrored traffic.
- Click Next.
- In the Ready to Complete section, review the information mirror set and click Finish. The settings apply and, once the NNM VM is configured correctly, NNM begins collecting data.
