Maintenance Windows

Maintenance windows define scheduling and are an important concept. Maintenance windows can prevent updates from being applied and machines from rebooting at inopportune times. Maintenance windows create guard rails to ensure patching doesn't take down servers during business hours and greatly reduces the likelihood of interrupting people's work. You can define maintenance windows.

For example, you can define a maintenance window to take place during off-business hours on weeknights, or for extended periods of time on Saturdays and Sundays. Extended hours on the weekends is likely to be a popular choice with enterprise customers.

To add a maintenance window:

1. Navigate to Maintenance Windows from the menu on the left.

2. Click New to define one or more maintenance windows.
