Perform a Backup
Required User Role: Root user

To perform a backup of Tenable Security Center data:

Log in to Tenable Security Center via the command line interface (CLI).

Stop Tenable Security Center, as described in Start, Stop, or Restart Tenable Security Center.
Tenable Security Center stops.

In the CLI in Tenable Security Center, run the following command to view all running processes:
# ps -fu tns

If any processes are listed, run the following commands to stop them:
# killall -u tns
# killall httpd
Note: These commands stop all jobs (including scans) running on Tenable Security Center.

If necessary, repeat step 4 to confirm all processes stopped.

Run the following command to create a .tar file for your /opt/sc directory:
# tar -pzcf sc_backup.tar.gz /opt/sc
Note: The.tar file switches are case-sensitive.
Tenable Security Center creates the backup file.

Run the following command to confirm the backup file is not corrupted:
# tar -tvf sc_backup.tar.gz

Move the backup file to a secure location.

Start Tenable Security Center, as described in Start, Stop, or Restart Tenable Security Center.
Tenable Security Center starts.
