Industrial Security Instance Settings

Use the following options to configure Industrial Security instances in, as described in Add an Industrial Security Instance.




A name for the Industrial Security instance.


A description, location, or purpose for the instance.


The hostname or IP address of the instance.


The TCP port that the Industrial Security instance listens on for communications from The default is port 8837.


Specifies the state of the connection to Industrial Security. When enabled, can access the instance.

Authentication Type

Specifies the authentication type for connecting to the instance: Password or SSL Certificate.


If you selected Password as the Authentication Type, the username for the account generated during the Industrial Security installation for daemon-to-client client communications. The account must have administrator privileges for sending plugin updates to the instance.


If you selected Password as the Authentication Type, the password associated with the account used for authentication.


If you selected SSL Certificate as the Authentication Type, the SSL certificate you want to use for communications with the Industrial Security instance.

Certificate Passphrase If you selected SSL Certificate as the Authentication Type and the private key that decrypts your SSL certificate is encrypted with a passphrase, the passphrase for the private key.

Verify Hostname

When enabled, adds a check to verify that the hostname or IP address entered in the Host option matches the CommonName (CN) presented in the SSL certificate from the Industrial Security instance.

Use Proxy

When enabled, uses the proxy configured in Industrial Security for communication with the instance.


Specifies one or more IPv4 repositories where you want to store the Industrial Security instance data. Tenable recommends using a designated repository for all Industrial Security data.
