Manage Debugging Logs
Required Tenable Security Center User Role: Administrator

Caution: Debugging logs can fill your disk and disrupt system processes if left enabled. Only enable debugging logs when instructed by Tenable Support, and disable them immediately after troubleshooting is complete.
Note: Collected debug logs contained in the debug archive are automatically deleted during the scheduled nightly cleanup.
Enable Debugging Logs
You can enable debugging to generate logs for troubleshooting with Tenable Support.
Caution: Tenable does not recommend enabling debugging logs unless instructed by Tenable Support. Some debugging settings generate large volumes of data that can fill your disk if left enabled. Others may affect system processes beyond logging. Disable all debugging settings as soon as troubleshooting is complete.
To enable debugging:

Log in to Tenable Security Center Director via the user interface.

In the left navigation, click System > Diagnostics.
The Diagnostics page appears.

In the Debugging Logs section, select one or more debugging logs Tenable Support asked you to enable.

Click Save Debug Settings.
Tenable Security Center Director enables the debugging logs you selected and saves the corresponding log files to /opt/sc/admin/logs.
What to do next:

Download the debugging logs, as described in Download Debugging Logs.

Share the debugging log files with Tenable Support.

Disable all debugging logs as soon as troubleshooting is complete, as described in Disable Debugging Logs. Leaving debugging logs enabled can fill your disk and affect system performance.
Download Debugging Logs
You can download debugging logs for troubleshooting with Tenable Support.
Before you begin:

Enable debugging logs, as described in Enable Debugging Logs.
To download debugging logs:

Log in to Tenable Security Center Director via the user interface.

In the left navigation, click System > Diagnostics.
The Diagnostics page appears.

In the Download Debugging Logs section, click Collect Log Files.
Tenable Security Center generates the debugging log files you selected.

Click Download Debug File.
The debugging logs download.

Share the files with Tenable Support.

Disable Debugging Logs
To disable debugging:

Log in to Tenable Security Center Director via the user interface.

In the left navigation, click System > Diagnostics.
The Diagnostics page appears.

In the Debugging Logs section:

To disable individual debugging logs, deselect the logs.
-
To disable all debugging logs, click Deselect All.
-

Click Save Debug Settings.
Tenable Security Center Director disables the debugging logs you deselected.
What to do next:

Follow Tenable Support's instructions to manually remove old debugging log files from /opt/sc/admin/logs.
