Sensor Proxy provides an on-premises cache and single point of traffic between Tenable Agents and Tenable Nessus scanners to Tenable Vulnerability Management or Tenable Web App Scanning scanners to Tenable Security Center. Sensors send communication to Sensor Proxy, not to Tenable Vulnerability Management or Tenable Security Center directly. As a result, large numbers of sensors can communicate with Tenable Vulnerability Management or Tenable Security Center with less bandwidth usage. Additionally, Sensor Proxy alleviates overall network traffic by caching agent plugins and updates and distributing differential agent updates.

Note: Tenable Security Center 6.5 only supports Sensor Proxy linked with Tenable Web App Scanning scanners. Tenable Nessus scanners and Tenable Agents are currently unsupported. Tenable Vulnerability Management supports Sensor Proxy linked with all sensors except Tenable Web App Scanning scanners.
